The Sega Ages 2500 series (SEGA AGES 2500シリーズ) is a range of emulated and remake games made by many different companies and published by Sega for the PlayStation 2 between 2003 and 2008, only for Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Some of them were re-released digitally on PlayStation 3 as part of the Game Archives, again, only for the same regions from its previous console.
Overview
[edit | edit source]The label mainly consisted into budget remakes of several legacy games from the company (hence why the 2500, which means a 2,500 yen price tag). Starting with volume 11, emulations were being thrown as bonuses, until it became a standard in volume 20 through 33. Notoriously, this project, alongside Oretachi Geesen Zoku, marks the debut of M2 in official emulation scene, as both volume 20 of Sega Ages 2500 and volume 8 of Oretachi were released on the same day for the PlayStation 2.
Some entries in the series were released in North America and Europe under a DVD-ROM disc called Sega Classics Collection, however, none of the games that featured emulations were included.
