The vast majority of Visual Novels (the Japanese equivalent of graphic adventure games) made for [[DOS-based, Windows 1.0x/2x/3x series|Windows 3.1]] and [[Windows 95/98/ME emulators|Windows 9x]] Operating systems are unplayable and unavailable to the public. The only real way of playing any of them (at the time of writing) is setting up Wine, a virtual machine or a PC Emulator, restricting access to these who can play them and significantly reducing the chance they will get re-release, let alone get a translation.
