ExEn was developed by French company In-Fusio around 2000 as a more advanced, game-oriented Java-based alternative to J2ME, offering additional features, such as sprite zooming, parallax scrolling and rotation. ExEn V2 was developed in 2002, offering improved speeds. ExEn was the first mass-market downloadable game engine to be released in Europe.
