:What makes mGBA good? Without proof, that edit is useless. Oh right tilt sensors or whatever, literally no fucks are given about such a feature. Have any of you actually tried this emulator? Because it's shit in almost every way, it has what, less ram usage, again literally no fucks as it's 20 fucking 15.

:::MY 2 cents: VBA-M has improved a lot, is still active developed and they are adding missing feature that mGBA supports. https://github.com/visualboyadvance-m/visualboyadvance-m/releases. Personal opinions: compared to higan gives a lot less headache with GBA emulation (frame sync vs audio sync) and a lot better performance. It may not accurate as mGBA and as higan, but for the avarage user, it may be the best alternative to mGBA. --212.216.160.13 08:30, 17 November 2018 (EST)

::::The settings in VBA-M seem somewhat more customizable than mGBA (allowing you to change which kinds of save files it tries to detect for example). VBA-M allows you to limit your full screen stretching such that it remains at the frame size you've set it at (mGBA has no such functionality as far as I know). mGBA's audio accuracy also seems fairly off unless I'm mistaken. People are widely claiming that mGBA is more accurate but actually I've only seen evidence to the contrary. There is no explanation for it being "Not Recommended", and that's weird cause it's pretty solid for what it is and you don't have to deal with the shitty controls and bloat that comes with RetroArch.

I have the same opinion.

My Boy is the one with the most features, at least in android. Including:

- Multiplayer

- Solar sensor and motion control

Which are both absent from the only android recommended option (gba.emu).

The only point why it shouldn't be recommended is because it isn't OSS: https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Recommended_Emulators

But while that is true, several others non-OSS emulators are recommended, as the list provided in the Recommended Emulators page seems more like a guide than an strict set of rules

That being said, I'm going to go ahead and update it to recommended. May anyone disagree, please state their opinions in this very thread.

VBA "The original GBA emulator."
Hi, I noticed that Visual Boy Advance is referred to as "The original GBA emulator." on this page. Is VBA the same emulator as GBAEmu which released in September 2000 before the GBA came out? https://www.zophar.net/gba/gbaemu.html 108.162.241.29 23:37, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

:No, VBA was forked several times, so calling it "the original" was meant to distinguish it from VBA-M, which is actively maintained. -FosterHaven (talk) 02:19, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

::In that case I would propose switching it to "The original VBA emulator." and adding some information about GBAEmu (as it is an interesting piece of history). 108.162.241.29 23:46, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

mGBA & VBA-M
I heard that mGBA is faster and more accurate than VBA-M. Also, the "best" version of VBA-M has a broken link so is no longer available for download. Explain why it was more superior to the latest version.

Could you please remove the protection after the data loss? Some information might need to be updated. Lordlouckster (talk) 19:48, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

About ares Game Link & E-Reader Support
After extensive testing and online research, I've come to the conclusion that ares doesn't support Game Linking and E-Reader functionalities. So if anyone thinks that the categories for ares should be changed, go right ahead.

Does AloneGBA still exist/has ever existed?
The link in the "version" column leads to a 404, and no results pop up on Google, or even in GitHub. Unless it is an extremely confidential project, there's little to no proof this emulator even exists or has ever existed.

EDIT: turns out using Wayback Machine provided results with "standalones.dev". However, it's not possible to download anything anymore. Should we really keep it in the list? Same goes for AloneSFC and AloneMD in their respective pages.

Move Bizhawk under mGBA
Bizhawk is currently just an emulator front end that contains an mGBA core. It would probably be nicer to de-duplicate the info by removing its row in the table and providing a link underneath mGBA like VBA-m and Mednafen have for their libretro cores.

Ares & Higan Cycle Accuracy
Both Ares and Higan's GBA emulators fail many of the timing tests required for cycle accuracy see here: https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/GBA_Tests

Nanoboy Advance is currently the only GBA emulator that really hits the spirit of this, having passed difficult cycle accuracy test benches on the CPU and its peripherals.

SkyEmu is close, having a cycle accurate CPU and most peripherals, but notably lacks cycle accurate PPU emulation (SkyEmu is only accurate to the pixel ~4 clock cycles).

All other emulators are pretty far away lacking clock accurate CPU, cartridge, and PPU emulation.

mGBA audio accuracy
When I last used mGBA, I noticed that it emulated the GBA's audio quite inaccurately. Is there a reason I'm not aware of that this isn't mention on this page?
