The Super Famicom retailed for ¥25000. The console would release outside of Japan as the SNES on August 23, 1991, in North America. The SNES retailed for {{Inflation|USD|199.99|1991}}. It has a Ricoh 5A22 CPU at 3.58 MHz. While the Super Famicom did well in Japan, outselling the [[PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) emulators|PC Engine]], outside of Japan during that time the SNES had ''fierce'' competition with SEGA's [[Sega Genesis emulators|Genesis]] (known in other regions as the Mega Drive).
