Bad timing, a lack of advertising, and issues with its design and quality (the plastic body is vary fragile) resulted in failure. Palmtex sold less then 37,000 units and discontinued the console the same year it was released. Only three of the eight games announced were released.

|Release in 2022 by Panic Inc, The Playdate is an upcoming handheld with a released date of sometime in 2021. The console has uses a monochrome screen similar to an e, and along with standard controls (A & B Buttons, D-paper display one would find Pad) there is a Crank on the side of the console, giving the system a Kindleunique way of controlling games. Game development is aimed mainly at indie studios. Since the console has yet to be releasedis still being sold, it unknown how games will be made for it, when it well be discontinued or how many units of this system will sell.
