The CD-i console

The Compact Disc Interactive (CD-i), is an interactive multimedia CD player and format developed and marketed by Royal Philips Electronics, N.V. in 1991/1992. Notably, it featured IPs from Nintendo, such as Mario and Zelda, due to previously having tried to develop a CD add-on for the SNES. Their takes on Nintendo IP's were infamously terrible, so infamous that you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't think of them when you mention the console's name. However, there were a few cult classic games on the system.

Comparision

Cdiemu is payware that hasn't been updated since 2006. The compatibility is the best out of the CD-i emulators, but it still isn't very good.

MESS has support for cd-i, but it's very incomplete and rudimentary. It does seem to be the only hope for an eventual good CD-i emulator though.
