RPCS3 was started by programmers 'DH' and 'Hykem' (Who began beta-testing and coding for [[JPCSP]] in 2008) on May 23, 2011. The developers initially hosted the project on Google Code and eventually moved it to GitHub later in its development. The emulator was first able to successfully boot and run simple homebrew projects and was then later publicly released in June of 2012. Then-[[Orbital]] founder, Alex Altea, even joined these two developers in the late summer of 2013, and worked on a number of aspects, and maintained the project up till early 2015. The Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) is a 7th-generation Cellphone design by Sun MicroSystems J2ME started with CLDC (Connected Limited Device Configuration) which was placed under JSR 30: jcp.org of which the first release was April 28, 2000 and Acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2010; the platform replaced a similar technology, PersonalJava. Java Platform, Micro Edition or Java ME is a computing platform for development and deployment of portable code for embedded and mobile devices. Java ME was formerly known as Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition or J2ME. Then on April 30, 2014, CLDC 8 (JSR 360) came out (which is what SquirrelJME implements) but by then nobody took up anything Java ME (formerly J2ME) anymore so nothing ever used it apart from development and evaluation systems.
