MESS is able to emulate hundreds of unique systems, as well as thousands of system variations.
It is a sister project to the '''Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator''', [[MAME]]. Many of the contributors are the same, and though they are still treated as separate projects by the development teams , the two have been merged into MAME.
