Emulators
Emulators
;Before diving in, know that each row under 'Through' specifies the method (VM, AOSP or actual OS) used for running Android operating system, some of these are not software emulators (e.g. AOSP). Hardware-assisted virtualization feature must be turned for "VM" methods (VirtualBox, VMware, QEMU etc.) due to performance reasons. Keep in mind that you should turn off Hyper-V windows feature if Type-2 hypervisor used due to conflict issue, although some emulators like BlueStacks provide special Hyper-V build for this. On top of that, many Android emulators incorporate "libhoudini or libndk" translation layer to enable ARM apps to run on x86-based hardware, see #Hardware_featuresHardware features supported ABI section and #Enhancements built-in translation layer section for more information.
:Also tons of bloated or non-active Android "emulator" exists, see this page for more.
