Hovercraft is the Nintendo 64 emulator used on the Nintendo Classics for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack and Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

Overview

Nintendo 64 games were added to the service in September 2021 alongside Sega Genesis games available on the same tier. A "Mature 17+/18+" version of the app was released in Japan for titles that received D and Z ratings from CERO in November 2023, and in June 2024 for users outside Japan for M-rated/PEGI 16 games. The emulation accuracy varies between games, sometimes being worse than re-releases of Nintendo 64 games on Wii and/or Wii U Virtual Console iterations. Since update 4.0.0 (2.0.0 for the Mature variant), the apps carry the Nintendo Classics branding and features dedicated, in-game remapping controls.

Select features from other Nintendo Classics apps, such as rewind and CRT filters, are only available in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the emulator.^[1]
