Gopher2600 is an open-source emulator for the Atari 2600 video game console, written in the Go programming language by developer JetSetIlly. The emulator achieves very high accuracy in reproducing the behavior of the original hardware, with no known problems in the emulation of the 6507 CPU, TIA (Television Interface Adapter), or RIOT (RAM-I/O-Timer) chips. Gopher2600 is designed to serve dual purposes as a platform for playing classic Atari 2600 games and as a development tool for creating new homebrew titles.
