Silicon Graphics (SGI) was a developer and manufacturer of Graphics Workstation, their computers were considered by many to be gold standard for high-end 3D graphics from the early 80s to the the mid-2000s, they were widely used by schools and major entertainment companies handle such tasks as making visual effects for films or to run simulations, they even used in amusement parks rides.
