The PS2 Hard Disk Drive was an official peripheral released by Sony for the PlayStation 2 console. It launched in July 2001 in Japan and March 2004 in North America. However, it's important to note that not all PS2 models supported the HDD. Only the fat models (SCPH-30000 to SCPH-50000 series) had the Expansion Bay needed to connect the HDD.
PS2 HDD offered:
*Increased storage: Compared to the 8MB memory card, the HDD provided a massive 40GB of storage space. This allowed users to:
::Save game progress for multiple games.
::Install games for faster loading times.
::Store music and videos (MP3 and MPEG format).
*Network functionality: The HDD required the Network Adapter to function. This enabled users to;
