higan is an open -source , [[Multi-system emulators|multi-system emulator that originally started out as bsnes. It was created in response to inaccurate SNES emulators and shoddy ROM hacks. Currently, the only thing worth using in higan It is now succeeded by the actively updated cycle-accurateares bsnes core.

==ReviewList of forks==The bsnes core ===nSide===nSide is the only one worth using in a fork of higan. The others are very early in developmentthat, among other things, adds support for more boards such as the Atari 2600 as well as peripherals and are inferior the VS. UniSystem to other existing emulatorsthe NES core. Alternatives include GambatteIt also retains the SNES Balanced core and thus makes available new improvements to higan, VBAsuch as the WASAPI driver and the IIR-MBiquad interpolation filter, Nestopia, and DeSmuMEto users whose computers cannot run the Accuracy core-only releases from higan v098 onwards with full speed.
It is recommended to use the bsnes core in ==External links==* [[RetroArch]https://higan.readthedocs.io/ higan Manual] to get around some of the less(community-user friendly designs in higan.maintained)
