EmulationStation is a graphical launcher for various emulators.
'''EmulationStation''' is a graphical and themeable [[Frontends|launcher]] for various emulators. It can import custom themes to use, but it doesn't have a large community so there is not an abundance of these. Comes with a metadata scraper. It is a great front end if you use a controller and not keyboard and mouse, and thanks to some users on the [[RetroPie]] Forum, development has been picked up after the original developers left. Some new additions include support for video playback as well as custom carousels.

While commonly referred to as a frontend to emulators, it is not designed for this purpose, instead to simply launch a particular game on a particular emulator. A frontend handles the audio and video of the backend.
