Silicon Graphics (SGI) was a developer and manufacturer of Graphics Workstation, their computers were considered by many to be gold standard for high-end 3D graphics from the early 80s to the the mid-2000s, they were widely used by schools and major entertainment companies handle such tasks as making visual effects for films or to run simulations, they were even used in amusement parks rides.
