It should be noted that it causes BSODs with Windows 7 as well as 10

As of March 2024, PJ64 v4.0.0 nightly still has countless regressions over v3.0.1, and it's still best to stick with stable v3.0.1 if you just want to play games and are not contributing to the project (at least the latest nightly builds from 2024 are more stable and don't crash all the time anymore like earlier v4.0 builds, so there's been SOME improvement).

Perhaps the main page should be updated to reflect this, since it says "As of 2022, PJ64 has been getting ready for the 4.0.0 stable release, and thus the nightly builds are going through a major overhaul.". It doesn't seem to reflect the current state of development, since as of early 2024 it doesn't look like 4.0.0 stable will be arriving anytime soon.
