I think it would improve the wiki and make it more accessible to everyone, if we added links on the main page to more content pages that don't have a link yet. I can't do it myself though, so I'd appreciate if someone else considered doing it. I have looked up all content pages at https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php?title=Special:AllPages&hideredirects=1 and I have made a list of most of the ones that aren't yet linked on the main page, excluding all that focus on specific emulators and a few more that I thought were better off staying inside other links. Also, there's at least 2 pages on this list that aren't linked from any other page, GPD_XD_Devices and Thread_template. Here's the list:

Ninth Generation Consoles?
I know the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S aren't schedule to release for another month and a half, but I was wondering when it does should we make new category and classify it as ninth-generation?  Also I know there was some debate on whether the Nintendo Switch should be classified as eighth-generation or ninth, should we move it to ninth or wait until there's more of a consensus? -Skylark (talk) 21:47, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

I've been thinking about remaking the main page. I'll probably create a separate WIP page to test it out.
 +
There's mainly two reasons:
 +
* Make it easier to contribute to the wiki - this might be things like highlighting high priority tasks on the main page
 +
* Different layout of emulators - I've been thinking about separating console, computers and arcade emulators.
 +
Let me know if you got any suggestions. -Jpx (talk) 06:48, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

Yesterday on the 2nd the wiki's database got corrupted, and I was unable to restore it. Due to an issue with mySQL logging, the server's drive was also completely full so backups of the database weren't being made. Because of these issues I've had to roll the wiki back to the most recent offline backup I had, which unfortunately is 6 months old. So to everyone who made edits in the past 6 months, I'm very sorry, I've lost those contributions.
 +
 +
I believe I've fixed the issue with mySQL, and will be checking the server's status and making offline backups more regularly, as well as using a service to backup the server's instance in full. --SonofUgly (talk) 22:18, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Me and webmint have made Discord Server. Made for wiki. No one has any problem with this. It doesn't matter who made this server. Wiki's talk page is a common thing. discord shares much more information than this. It also does not matter whether it is private or open, but we have made this server for the improvement of the wiki. So that more and more people can be helped. As far as I know, there is no problem with this wiki's owner and administrator. Me and webmint is the more active contributor. If you still have any problem with this then you can tell.

If you are looking for something to do, check the GetInvolved page. There's also a GetInvolved talk page.

Adding links to more content pages on the main page

I can add it. I think we should only change the Switch to ninth if Wikipedia does it. -Jpx (talk) 06:48, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

New main page

I've been thinking about remaking the main page. I'll probably create a separate WIP page to test it out. There's mainly two reasons:

Will it still be remade? - WebMint (talk) 17:17, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Quality control

Some pages are of subpar quality or outdated. I think we need some better way of quality control. Perhaps something like Wikipedias Content assessment & Vital aritcles or something like PCGamingWiki? A way to go thru all pages, add a category or template and then be able to list all pages that needs fixing. WIP, Outdated and stub take care of the real subpar ones, and for the rest I think it'd be best to keep it simple by either adding Category:Article_complete or Category:Article_incomplete to the page.
We should also have something to check against, so how about Emulation General Wiki:Guidelines as a guide. --SonofUgly (talk) 03:55, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I think that we should do a Discord server for easier communication between everyone, or is there one already? thanks.

Me and Rdx have a Discord server dedicated to EmuGen, here's the link: https://discord.gg/A3WKdjqR - WebMint (talk) 09:23, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
I don't agree with having a discord unrelated to the general in the main page, and others in the thread don't seem to agree either, after all wiki discussions should be public and easily accessible to anyone, and creating a private group not only goes against that but against the whole philosophy of the imageboard that spawned it.
