The system was released in Japan on December 12, 2004, in North America on March 24, 2005, and in the [[wikipedia:PAL_region|PAL region]] on September 1, 2005. It was retailed for $181 ($236 in 2018 money). It had a MIPS R4000 CPU at 333MHz with 32MB of RAM. Later revisions of the PSP came with 64MB of RAM, allowing for faster load times.
