The '''Nintendo Switch''' is an eighth-generation console-handheld hybrid gaming platform launched by Nintendo in 2017. It was also known as the Nintendo NX (short for NeXt) during development, and includes motion and touch controls. Aside from specialised components unique to the console, the hardware is more or less off-the-shelf, being built around a semi-custom variant of Nvidia's Tegra X1 system-on-chip which was also used on a number of Android devices.

The Nintendo Switch was recently found to have a huge vulnerability compared to the one that made Gateway possible on the 3DS. It made possible the dumping of tons of system files and even decrypted game dumps shared online which came as romfs.istorage archives, an exefs folder, and some license files omitted from those scene releases. It turns out, however, that these game dumps are missing some important files to run. Even if they were complete, no custom homebrew apps let alone solutions to load unofficial game dumps have been developed yet for the system.

A new legitimate "debugging emulator" for the Nintendo Switch, [http://github.com/reswitched/CageTheUnicorn CTU], emerged not too long after. However, it actually only emulates sysmodules with "no support for graphics, sound, input, or any kind of even remotely performant processing", and this is "by design". While this project was made public, it's nothing more than research at this point. A conventional emulator actually playing games, be it for emulating console-exclusives, testing homebrew apps, or playing with a debugger on... will come probably from someone else eventually.

Until then, don't even ask about emulators, or download random shit promoted with youtube videos, especially gameplay-capable versions of CTU, until there are hacks capable of running backups and/or non-trivial homebrew, or when you feel like trying the latest ransomware out there.
