The OutdatedMacintoshCemu is a family of personal computers designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple Inc. since January 1984. The original Macintosh was the first mass-market personal computer that featured a graphical user interface, builtclosed-in screen, and mouse, eschewing the command-line interface and/or BASIC interpreter that had been the mainstay for home computers since the late '70s. Apple offered the Macintosh alongside its popular source Apple IIWii U emulator family of computers for almost ten years before those were discontinued in 1993Windows. Its development was started circa 2015 and it's known to be the very first Wii U emulator ever that can boot games.
Throughout its history the Macintosh has spanned four CPU instruction set architectures that represent the four commonly known generations. From its launch in 1984 up until 1996Before updates are publicly released, Apple sold Macintoshes with the Motorola 68k family of CPUs. In the early 90s, Apple partnered with Motorola and IBM to combine IBMthey's POWER with Motorola's 88k re accessible to produce the PowerPC (PPC) architecture they used in Macs from 1994-2007, naming some of them accordingly as Power Macintoshbackers over at They switched to x86 in 2007, justifying it with the explanation that PPC failed to be competitive with Intel's Pentium M seriespatreon. And in 2020 have started a transition from x86 to ARM, further integrating with its more popular iOS mobile spinoffcom/cemu their Patreon.
Macintosh computers have always included a platform-exclusive operating system that never had a consistent name. An important divide relevant for Mac emulation is "Old World" vs. "New World" motherboard ROMs, with Old World used for System 1-7 on 68k/PPC targets, and New World generally used for Mac OS 8-10 PPC targets. A quick way to distinguish an Old World from a New World Mac is that all New World Macs have onboard USB ports, while no Old World Macs do. New World ROMs are required for OS 8.5, thus also dropping support for 68k. Mac OS X, which has UNIX underpinnings different from its predecessor, was introduced in 1999 requiring a PowerPC G3 at minimum, and ported to x86 in 2006. With version 11 in 2020, macOS is now being ported to ARM (like its mobile cousin iOS). A ton of Macintosh emulators have appeared over the years, some early in the system's release (mostly for competing m68k microcomputers) and others as late as a few years ago. As a PC platform in its own right with its own userbase and varying degrees of unique software and hardware features, most major emulators of other platforms maintain a macOS port, or are ported to macOS by external collaborators, in addition to a number of emulators originating on the Mac over the years. It should be noted that we do not aim to be the last word on Mac emulation; there's a community called E-Maculation that covers this more thoroughly, as they offer builds for many of the emulators shown here on their forums. We'll either be further ahead or severely behind. ==Emulators=====68k=Download=={| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center;"|-! scope="col"|Name! scope="col"|Platform(s)! scope="col"|Latest Version! scope="col"|Active! scope="col"|Recommended|-!colspancellpadding="54"|PC / x86|-|Mini vMac|align=left|Windows|36.04| |||-|Basilisk II|align=left|Windows|1.0 R5| ||

It has a sample line with a bogus key and "Mac II" a comment, which you may as well delete.  Your file must have many lineslike this, capable one for the Wii U Common Key (D7B00402659BA2ABD2CB0DB27FA2B656), and one line for the Game Key of booting System 6each game. Sharing these keys isn't exactly safe legally, but ROM sites at least share the Game ones. Note that for games using the Loadiine format, you won't need a Game Key at all, but those will need Cemu versions from 1.4.0onward.7  Your ISO must be either uncompressed, compressed using WUD format, or in Loadiine format (only possible for versions 1.4.0 onward) to OS 8boot in Cemu. The successor  ===Digital copies===Cemu supports either physical games dumps in WUD, or compressed WUX format, as well as game dumps converted to Basilisk, the Loadiine format. Loadiine games come as multiple directories with game files and a similar emulator .rpx file. Nintendo's CDN for Linux Wii U and BeOS3DS digital games is rather poorly secured, it works by providing replacement drivers due to a huge oversight when designing the software protection for components that would normally be hardware these consoles. As such, with tickets proving you bought the game (but which you can get through less legit ways), there are downloader utilities like NUSGrabber, FunKiiU, UWizard, or jnus among others, and decryption tools like UWizard and CDecrypt, to obtain a sort functional copy. The process of HLE approach)how to exactly acquire those files is detailed elsewhere on this wiki. Load the . Aside rpx file from [Your gamelocation]/code/[yourgame].rpx with Cemu. ===Updates and DLC===Prior to 1.7.3, only updates were supported though pasting update files on the main game's folders (keeping in mind the usual Windowsmain game is in Loadiine format) and overwriting any files. DLC wouldn't work at all through this method, macOSthough with some specific games there were workarounds and some could play DLC tracks in Mario Kart 8 through swapping of specific files. From 1.7.3 onwards, proper support for DLC and Linux ports, Basilisk II also received an acclaimed (homebrew) PSP portupdates was included in Cemu.

This can cause a lot of stutters and slow the game down. It's often very difficult to generate a complete cache for large games, and will not completely eliminate stuttering, which is why using Asynchronous Shader Compiling is recommended instead.
