Emulators via vWii

Most emulators available for the Wii will also work on vWii(virtual Wii) mode on the Wii U. However, due to sandboxing, there will be no performance gain over a Wii, though some emulators support the Wii U pro controller or Wii U Gamepad.

See Emulators on Wii for emulators that will work on vWii mode

  1. Cave Story Engine 2, or CSE2 for short, received a DMCA cease and desist notice from Nicalis, the current IP owner of Cave Story, despite the original Cave Story being a freeware developed by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya.
  2. Ship of Harkinian requires either the GameCube's PAL Debug version (recommended) or the regular PAL GameCube version (not recommended) of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to generate an oot.otr file from OTRGui_BE to play it.
Since the SoH menu bar is currently not available in the Wii U version (a GUI is planned to be added), to use additional SoH features, a cvars.cfg file with CVars parameters in them (as g[featurename] = #, for each line; toggled values being 0 = Disabled, 1 = Enabled) would need to be in the base SoH app folder. A list of CVars features can be found in shipofharkinian.json of the PC version after launching the PC version. Newer features can be used in the latest nightly builds of Ship of Harkinian.
Using the gDpadEquips CVars feature (to allow items to be equipped to the D-Pad) will cause the game to crash without the dpad.bin file in oot.otr. To apply that, copy dpad.bin (located in "/assets/game/ship_of_harkinian/buttons/" from the latest PC version) and add it to the Wii U version's OTRGui_BE folder's assets (of the same location) before building the Wii U version of oot.otr in OTRGui_BE.
