Overview

Delta is the successor to a popular GBA emulator, GBA4iOS, made by the same developer and started development back in March of 2015. Similar to RetroArch, it uses a core based approach with each system running of its own core, however it is not Libretro-based and uses its own system to link into these cores. So far, only the NES, SNES, N64, GB(C), GBA and NDS systems are supported. Support for Sega Genesis emulation is planned for public release with initial support added in a beta release (1.3b4).

Issues

Due to Apple's unique philosophy on what is allowed to be on the App Store and limiting the ability to install third-party applications, installing the app can be a little bit complicated. Luckily there are multiple ways of installing and you can even do it without needing to jailbreak your phone, such as the developer's App Store alternative, AltStore. This is no longer neccesary as Apple has changed their App Store guidelines to allow emulators and have since approved Delta for App Store release, although it is still offered on the AltStore. In the European Union, sideloading is the only way to use Delta.[2]

Most of the systems have high compatibility, with the exceptions of DS emulation. N64 emulation suffers from a bug which replaces certain textures and sprites with solid black rectangles. The DS core can run slower and has low compatibility, and can sometimes crash; turning off low power mode can help. All systems also can have sound problems, ranging from crackling to latency of a few seconds.
