The Atari 400 was released in November of 1979 and retailed for <abbr title="$1,660{{Inflation|USD|549.33 in 2018 money">$500</abbr>95|1979}}. It had a 6502 CPU at 1.79 MHz with 4KB of RAM. It had 3 graphics modes, a 24 X 40 text, 160 x 96 with 128 colors, and 320 x 192 in B&W.
