Currently everything is in one table. Maybe we should split it into different sections for readability. I'm thinking "2D consoles", "3D consoles" and "Handheld". Thoughts? Phredreeke (talk) 01:17, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

:I had to look up Hori HD, the increased resolution is horizontally only, so the video display resolution should still be 240p (honestly, if it wasn't for the slim PSPs having video out, I'd just delete that column on the handheld section). In regard to the PS2, the GS Users Manual states (on page 23) that The frame buffer width must be a multiple of 64 pixels, something which several of the listed resolutions contradict. Also in regard to all the consoles, I'm not sure if resolutions exclusively used by homebrew or Linux should be listed (for the computers section I put in notes where software "bent" the limits. Maybe it's appropriate here too?) Phredreeke (talk) 01:28, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Is this page about internal resolution or output resolution?

For example, PS2 can output a 1080i signal (actually it's 576x960i stretched from a 576x480 frame) but I think the console can't reach 480 lines and goes 640x448 or any other sub480 res)

Regarding video display resolutions[edit]

Should we only list video modes that were officially supported, or also modes that could be enabled through homebrew (such as GS mode selector on PS2)? Phredreeke (talk) 14:18, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Restructure?[edit]

Currently everything is in one table. Maybe we should split it into different sections for readability. I'm thinking "2D consoles", "3D consoles" and "Handheld". Thoughts? Phredreeke (talk) 01:17, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

About the 3DS[edit]

The resolution with Hori HD is 800p but 480p also when the lower screen is in high res

I had to look up Hori HD, the increased resolution is horizontally only, so the video display resolution should still be 240p (honestly, if it wasn't for the slim PSPs having video out, I'd just delete that column on the handheld section). Since there are two screens, I'll change it to read 2x240p Phredreeke (talk) 22:31, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Resolution cleanup[edit]

In regard to the PS2, the GS Users Manual states (on page 23) that The frame buffer width must be a multiple of 64 pixels, something which several of the listed resolutions contradict. Also in regard to all the consoles, I'm not sure if resolutions exclusively used by homebrew or Linux should be listed (for the computers section I put in notes where software "bent" the limits. Maybe it's appropriate here too?) Phredreeke (talk) 01:28, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
